Jason Erickson and Alan Wood were the founders of A.E. Wood & Erickson, LLC and co-inventors of SyncDeK technology which now is owned by WorldSync, Inc.
A.E. Wood & Erickson, founded in 1998 as an information management consulting company, supported over 100 satisfied clients in a broad range of industries. FileMaker, Inc. – selected A.E. Wood and Erickson to be one of 25 Partners nationwide, in an effort to bring best practices to its rapidly growing developer community.
SyncDeK technology was developed by A.E. Wood & Erickson to solve a common problem had by its consulting clients -- the need to synchronize data between separate databases located across large geographical areas and not necessarily on any network at the same time. Available solutions were costly, fragile and labor intensive. The only way to meet these needs was to build a custom solution. In the evolution of this product and the experience gained in real-world situations, Alan and Jason realized the practical application of this technology to fill a gap in information sharing in the larger market.
Autonomous mobile knowledge workers are ill served by client-server technology because they don’t have a copy of their data when unable to connect to the office. Even with advanced mobile communications technologies, there are significant connectivity and security issues.
SyncDeK provides automated, secure, two-way data synchronization and conflict resolution between a virtually unlimited set of database “nodes” that may or may not be on a network at the same time.
SyncDeK has resonated in several industries where mobility and security are paramount. For example:
-
• SyncDeK is used by NASA to securely manage engineering reviews for International Space Station, with teams in Canada, Europe, Japan and the United States
-
• A multi-billion dollar technology company uses SyncDeK to support 100 sales and technical service representatives across the globe.
-
• Rock bands, including the Dave Matthews Band, Cold Play and many smaller acts use SyncDeK to manage the complex logistical challenge of touring
-
• Multi-national manufacturing and publishing companies use SyncDeK to shepherd data between plant operations in Asia, and offices for warehouse distribution and business operations in the U.S. and Europe.
-
• NBA basketball scouts use SyncDeK to build and share a knowledge base of player statistics and performance reviews
-
• Fire Departments in New Hampshire use SyncDeK to coordinate critical pre-planning data for mobile emergency response personnel.
And many other distributed workgroups for organizations in industries such as medical, legal, shipping, sales, distribution, education, public safety, scientific research, entertainment, electronics, biotech and more…
Just as they did with the initial product development of SyncDeK, Jason Erickson and Alan Wood realized the need to expand SyncDeK’s reach and marketplace and founded WorldSync, Inc. to continue moving SyncDeK forward with a dedicated focus and an expanded team.
Jason Erickson, Alan Wood, Eric Jungemann, Gil Peter and Susie Mathews founded WorldSync to continue Jason and Alan's vision for building empowering communications technologies. The company gives SyncDeK a significantly greater effort of human and financial resources to bring the product to a broader marketplace.
